Poetics of the true

The development path of the photographers differs in individual processes which begin with learning of the basis of media, and continue with articulating their own experience, with the single goal of building visual language of original and clearly identifiable characteristics. They have very clear motivation to work, which leads to cherishing a specific type of visual culture of image.

The specific path of Rasa Milojevic as an author is influenced by strong creative life energy and photographic skills on one hand and developed awareness of his own starting points and goals, of history and media, of social circumstances on the other hand.

First of all, Rasa Milojevic is a serious photographer-artist whose work covers a wide range of interests within the framework of the classical approach of photographing, as elementary state of modern photography.

Rasa Milojevic is not just a creator of photography for his own satisfaction or a philanthropist who selflessly helps other photography enthusiasts, but also a creator who feels responsibility for photography art and artists, with boundless energy and will to turn that feeling into photography. Desire to share experience to others has forced Rasa Milojevic to treat photography as an instrument of individual creativity in which his personal angle of view overcomes the mere documentary presentation. Carefully analyzing the recent photography of Rasa Milojevic, we can discover some interesting facts for understanding his work. He is an author with a refine sense of the very essence of the media, of its language autonomy, of photography as an authentic interpreter of the moment of reality which then immediately becomes a tiny part of the past.

Selflessly spending creative energy on narrowed thematic basis, Rasa Milojevic uses photographic form for understanding human destiny, no matter where photographs were made. In this case, it is about the faraway China, the land of ancient civilization and rich history. What you would expect at first glance and what usually fascinates people from other cultures is not presented in his photographs. Instead, we encounter author’s search and retrieval of a man on the margin of the whirling social development, depicting life as it is, often under the burden of the everyday. Milojevic deals with the poetics of the true, above all of the ordinary, in this series from China, as in most of his previous works. His photographs speak about life in an understandable universal language. In Rasa’s view, reality, if there is such a thing as reality, is neither the truth, nor the common.

The moments of the everyday in China and inevitable transience of human life inspire Milojevic. He manages to catch those moments in the light-sensitive lens of his camera, trying to touch the very core of human living. That is how this personal document of endless human progress on another continent, composed of small, ordinary things with, again, the tiny moments of pleasure of its characters, far from the majestic, pompous content were made. Furthermore, these little things are of the highest value for the Milojevic’s photographs which were skillfully drawn from the context of life. The exhibition has a double, comprehensive content: the street life and the portrait in everyday surroundings.

This kind of photographic creativity is extremely rare among the Serbian authors. It is the most common among those who deal with the newspaper and magazine publishing business. On the contrast, Milojevic’s photos are neither made to order, nor for a newspaper as an illustration to a text. They are primarily intended for exhibition. This is the Milojevic’s way to emphasize his approach, selecting and perceiving a certain scene where details are extracted in order to interpret a wider context.

The author’s short stay in China during a conference of colleague photographers from all over the world was enough to provide a nice visual material, with aspiration to tell a universal story, enriched by a deeper reality. Enriched by a special conten, photography deserves a prominent place, and therefore seeks a deeper communication, and a specific interpretation.

In the portraits made in an authentic environment it is obvious that the men, women and children overwhelmingly rejected an unnatural posture and mask, and thus offered valuable, true sparks of life; and its essential meaning.

The twenty-fourth solo exhibition shows the maturity, consistency and ambition of the author who wanted and managed to avoid the mediocrity that is very common in modern Serbian photography.

Cultural community of town Zajecar, and probably of some other cities in Serbia, will have the opportunity to see Rasa Milojevic’s work created during a short stay in China. This exhibition puts Milojevic in the focus as a creator of true vision of humanity.

Poetikа istinitog

Pre svegа, reč je o ozbiljnom fotogrаfskom neimаru koji svojim rаdom obuhvаtа širok rаspon interesovаnjа u okvirimа klаsičnog pristupа bаvljenjа fotogrаfijom, kаo elementаrnog stаnjа nаše dаnаšnje fotogrаfske produkcije.

Nesebično trošeći kreаtivnu energiju nа suženoj temаtskoj osnovi, Rаšа Milojević koristi fotogrаfsku formu rаdi spoznаje ljudskog usudа, bez obzirа nа mesto gde su nаstаli svetlosni zаpisi. U konkretnom slučаju to je dаlekа Kinа, zemljа stаre civilizаcije i bogаte istorije.

Inаče, izložbа imа dvostruk, celovit sаdržаj: život ulice i portret u svаkidаšnjem аmbijentu.

Nа tаj nаčin Milojević ističe svoj pristup, selektujući i percipirаjući određeni prizor iz kogа izvlаči pojedinost kojom tumаči širi kontekst.

Autorovo fotogrаfsko beleženje u Kini trаjаlo je relаtivno krаtko, tokom orgаnizovаnog fotogrаfskog susretа sа kolegаmа iz svih krаjevа svetа, аli sаsvim dovoljno dа obezbedi fini vizuelni tаlog, sа pretenzijom dа se ispričа nekа univerzаlnа pričа, obogаćenа dubljom stvаrnošću. Tаko oplemenjen posebnim sаdržаjem fotogrаfski rаd bivа izložen nа istаknutijem mestu, а sаmim tim trаži i dublju komunikаciju, i specifičnije tumаčenje.
